Product / Hot Tubs

How do I know what type of electrical outlet I need for my hot tub?

13 Amp Plug & Play: This is the most common and easiest to install. It plugs into a regular outdoor waterproof socket with RCD protection (similar to what you might use for garden equipment). This is a good choice for smaller, more basic hot tubs.

32 Amp Hard-Wired: This is required for larger, more powerful hot tubs with stronger jets. It involves a dedicated electrical circuit installed by a qualified electrician. This circuit will connect directly to your house's main electrical panel and include a safety switch.

Not sure which one you need? Consult your hot tub manual or the manufacturer's instructions. If you're still unsure, a qualified electrician can advise you on the best option for your specific hot tub and your home's electrical setup.

How much maintenance does a hot tub need?

Regular maintenance is key to keeping your hot tub clean and enjoyable. This typically involves cleaning the filters, maintaining proper water chemistry, and having annual servicing.

How long does it take to heat a woodfired hot tub?

The heating time for a wood-fired hot tub can vary but you can expect it to be between 1.5 to 2.5 hours on average. Here's a breakdown of some key influences:

Season: In summer, with warmer starting water temperatures and better weather conditions, you can expect a heating time of around 1.5 hours. In winter, with colder starting water and potentially lower outside temperatures, it might take closer to 2.5 hours.

Wood Type: Dry, seasoned firewood burns hotter and heats the water faster than wet or poorly seasoned wood.

Weather Conditions: Wind and colder temperatures can slow down the heating process.

Initial Water Temperature: Colder water will naturally take longer to heat up.

What's the recommended temperature range for a woodfired hot tub?

For a comfortable and safe soak, aim for a temperature between 38°C - 40°C. Exceeding 42°C can be dangerous. Keep a close eye on children and elderly bathers, and stay hydrated before, during, and after.

What jet power do I need?

While horsepower (HP) isn't the only measure of jet power, it can be a helpful rule of thumb. Ideally, you want around 1 HP for every 10 jets. This ensures each jet gets enough pressure for a strong massage. So, a 10-jet tub likely has a 1 HP pump, while a 30-jet tub might need a 3 HP pump to power all the jets effectively. Remember, this is a general guideline.

How much will my hot tub cost to run?

The running cost of your hot tub depends on different factors.

✓ Season: Hot tubs are used more frequently in cooler months, which leads to higher energy consumption for maintaining water temperature.

✓ Usage: The more you use your hot tub, the more energy it will use to keep the water heated.

✓ Lid Usage: Leaving the lid open allows heat to escape, requiring the pump to work harder to maintain temperature, thus increasing electricity usage.

✓ Installation & Positioning: A well-insulated hot tub installed in a sheltered location will retain heat better than a poorly insulated one in a windy spot. This significantly impacts energy use.

✓ Electricity Cost: The cost per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity varies depending on your location and energy provider.

Considering these factors, the daily running cost of a hot tub can range from £1 to £4.

Here are some tips for minimising your hot tub's running costs:

Maintain a consistent temperature – don't overheat the water unnecessarily.

Invest in a good quality hot tub cover and keep it closed when not in use.

Consider installing your hot tub in a sheltered location that receives minimal wind exposure.

What will my wave spa arrive with?

Your Wave Spa comes with everything you need to get soaking, including a heater, cover, filter, filter housing, inflation hose, and ground sheet.

Can I use my wave spa all year round?

Wave spas are designed for year-round enjoyment! Thanks to their insulating foam core and protective rattan/leather finish, they can withstand most weather conditions and keep you warm and comfortable outdoors. However, to ensure the long life of your spa's heater unit, we recommend taking some precautions when temperatures drop below 4°C (40°F). You can either move your spa indoors, if space allows, or simply ensure the heater unit is well-protected from the elements.

How long is the warranty on wave spas?

Wave Spas are backed by a comprehensive warranty program:

✓ 2-Year Heater Warranty: Wave Spa heaters are covered for two years. Should you encounter any issues, Wave Spa will assist you with troubleshooting and repairs to get you back to soaking in no time.

✓ 1-Year Liner Warranty: Wave Spa liners are built to last, and they're backed by a 1-year warranty. If you experience any manufacturing-related liner issues within the first year, Wave Spa will ensure a prompt replacement to keep your spa experience uninterrupted.
